rare Hillrich and Bradsby Schenectady style putter - c1905

A nice model of an important historical club - a Schenectady putter with odd shaped and center shafted head with nice cross hatch face and an interesting cleek mark on the bottom of a player writing down his score - presumably after sinking a long putt! The original Schenectady putter was patented in 1903 and used by Walter Travis (an American) to win the 1904 British Open. Much hue and cry followed as the debate in Britain centered around the fact that the shaft was not attached at the heel of the club and this club was banned in the UK in 1910. The Americans continued to allow it for use in the United States.
