unusual antique wood shaft patent golf putter - Braid Mills model - c1912

A nice wood shaft aluminum mallet head golf putter made by The Standard Golf Company in Sunderland England. On the bottom it says "Braid MillsModel Flat Lie 10oz 4 dr" and on the top it says "Mills Patent Standard Golf Co. Sunderland. Lettering is relatively clear throughout - better on the bottom than the top of the head. The Braid model is named after James Braid who was one of the "triumvirate" of British golfers around the turn of the century that took turns winning the British Open. The shaft is solid with an old leather grip in good condition. The hosel is in good condition with no cracks - unusual in itself for an aluminum head. As is common on aluminum head putters there are a number of "dings" from the everyday use that the clubs receive. This putter - like most MIlls putters has lead back weights. Mills mallet style putters are standouts in wood shaft golf club collections and this one is a good sample - yours for a low starting price and no reserve.
